Tibetan Gynecology seminar

Tibetan Gynecology is a special part of Tibetan Medicine. It also contains a large area of pediatrics and maternity subjects. Tibetan medicine holds this subjects as very important because due to social or cutural taboos, it is very probable that in ancient times many women have left unsolved the mystery of their problem or death to their physicians and families. Because of this curtain of silence and darkness, Tibetan physicians developed diagnosis, treatment and therapies in which they gained great experience in gynecological disorders. Therefore Tibetan medicine has large literature on this practice even before scientific diagnostics were developed.

The general cause of gynecological disorders
The general cause is described as related to a bad function of Motsee (hormone), blood circulation in the uterus and related organs, as well as psychological imbalance that produce irregular menstruation, infertility, hormonal (motsee) imbalance, psychological and emotional disturbances, and become the root of all the gynecological disorders.

Types of gynecological disorders
General gynecology is divided into three groups according to the nature of a woman’s life phase and her common constitutional complaints:
a) Tragtsab - pre-menopause, disorders originated from blood.
b) rLungtsab - menopause and post-menopause, disorders manifested from the wind nature
c) Common complaints and organic disorders.

Treatments
There are many methods and effective treatments for all gynecological disorders, especially for complaints related to pre-menopause and menopause that can be treated by nutrition, appropriate behavior and life style, medicine and different therapies. Additional aids such as yoga and meditation may also be used. Buddhist psycho-spiritual advice and counseling on beneficial change in behavior, lifestyle and spiritual health are also vital.
